Discover more about this tour
This 5 to 5.5 hour tour explores origins of the Impressionist movement. Start in the Montmartre neighborhood before heading to the Musée d’Orsay, where you will skip the line and enter directly into its main collection of artwork by the likes of Monet and Cezanne. The tour can welcome up to 6 guests and includes transportation between the two locations as well as a break for lunch and restrooms.
This small group tour will connect the artwork at the Musée d’Orsay with the neighborhood that was home to most of its artists, Montmartre. Step back into time to the 19th century, when Paris was living the Belle Epoque, when cancan dancers kicked high, and when artists enjoyed absinthe in cafés. Explore the cobbled streets stretching between the Moulin Rouge and the Sacré Coeur basilica, considered to be the home of the art movement known as Impressionism.
After a break for lunch, head to the Musée d’Orsay to browse the artworks painted by Montmartre’s famous inhabitants like Toulouse-Lautrec, Renoir, and Van Gogh.
Highlights Generally Include: (if artwork is not on loan or being restored etc.) Moulin Rouge, Sacré Coeur Cathedral (with time allowed to explore inside as well), Moulin de la Galette, Vincent Van Gogh’s house, Manet’s Luncheon on the Grass, Renoir’s Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette, Monet’s Poppy Field and Waterlilies, Van Gogh’s Bedroom in Arles
